Skiing Arapahoe Basin

Hello everyone,

I just got back from skiing Arapahoe Basin. The conditions where pretty decent considering its only October. However, despite the large snowfall the past few days, the resort still hasn't opened any more runs. There was a  total only 3 runs opened, but one of those was the terrain park. There was also only one lift running. Lift lines where about 10-15 minutes and about 7 minute ride times. I only stayed there a few hours because of this. Besides all of that the skiing was amazing. It felt good to be back skiing again after such a long summer. Whats even better is that I recorded everything with my new HD helmet cam in full 1080p. I am editing the footage now and the video should be up in a few hours.

2011-2012 Opening Day Plans

The other day I was asked which opening day events I would be at for the 2011 - 2012 ski season. The answer is I will be at as many as I can be. I will defiantly be going to arapahoe basin this friday. I had mentioned before that I probably would not be going to arapahoe for a while because of the conditions, but thankfully the entire Colorado state is getting dumped on the next two days. The mountains are supposed to get up to 3 feet of fresh powder which is great for the resorts! Currently arapahoe basin only has three runs open, but I am sure lots more will be open after this huge snow storm. After arapahoe I will be going to keystone for their opening day on November 4th. I may even be there the entire weekend. According to their website, the entire front mountain is going to be open then. I will try my best to get the videos up the day I ski, otherwise they will be up the following day, and of course, now they will be in HD.

Breckenridge opens the following Friday the 11th. I am probably going to be there as well. Vail opens the 18th and Beaver Creek opens the 23rd. I am not sure if I will be at those.

The 2011-2012 ski season is getting off to a good start. Snow conditions are supposed to be on par with last year's record breaking conditions, so make sure your ready!

Ski Runs Ep.4 at Keystone Colorado

Episode 4 of Ski Runs has now been posted! It is a bit longer than usual (over 6 minutes), but I figured that was probably a good thing rather than bad. Episode 4 features 4 runs, 1 blue and 3 green. It takes you from the top of the mountain all the way to the bottom in a nice string of moderate runs. Ski Surge is back!!! And other important news!

Hello everyone!

The past few weeks I have been out of the office and been extremly busy with work and school. I apologize for not getting the Ski Runs episodes out every Thursday like I had promised. Now that I am back, so is Ski Runs. Episode 3 will be posted in the next few hours and the remaining episodes will come out every few days or so. I am assuming you guys like the current format that episode 2 had, so I am going to keep it like that. Unfortunately, I have some how lost a large majority of the footage from last year  (footage not in any other videos) that I was planning on using for these episodes. So I am left with footage that has already been in videos. However, the entire runs themselves have not been fully seen, so I am going to go ahead and still do the series. I was very upset when I realized this, but there is nothing I can do, I hope you guys understand.

The Colorado ski season officially started on October 13th with Arapahoe basin. I opted out from going because of the conditions. Most of the snow is manufactured and I did not want to ruin my skis on the first day. However, Keystone opens on the 4th of November and I have full plans to ski there opening day (possibly even camping out the night before!).

I have also upgraded my equipment as I had promised at the end of last year. I now have the Drift HD 170 stealth. I was very pleased with their non HD x170 that I recorded with last year, so I went ahead and got their brand new HD stealth 170. I have done a bit of testing with it in my back yard side by side with my old one. The difference is amazing. I may upload that as well later in the week. I am really looking forward to using it this ski season. I will probably keep my old one and use it has a pole mount to give another perspective.

Any way, I know this post was rather long, but I wanted to get all of that information out. I also plan on having a lot more "extreme" ski footage this coming season. Stuff like tree skiing and terrain park jumps.
Will keep you guys updated on Keystone opening day skiing and I may be going to arapahoe basin next friday, depending on the conditions.

The 2011-2012 ski season is going to be amazing!
